Travelling

Travelling to Genoa

Flying directly into Genoa (GOA) is often the simplest option, with connections from major European hubs. If a direct flight isn't available, Milan is the best alternative, just a 1,5 hour train ride away.

Once there, Genoa is well linked by train to many Italian cities. The city has two main stations, Genova Piazza Principe and Genova Brignole.

How to reach the main conference venue

Scuola Politecnica, Via Opera Pia 15, Genova

From Genoa Airport (Cristoforo Colombo, GOA)

  • Take the Volabus (AMT shuttle), which connects the airport to Genova Brignole and Genova Piazza Principe railway stations in about 30 minutes, passing through the city centre. The bus stops at the airport, then at Piazza Acquaverda (Principe station), De Ferrari (city centre), and finally at Brignole station — get off at Brignole, the stop closest to the venue.
  • Tickets can be bought online at a discounted rate (around €5 instead of €6 one-way), or on board/at the airport info desk.
  • Alternative for those travelling light: the Airlink shuttle to Sestri Ponente Aeroporto train station, then a short regional train ride into the centre.
  • Taxi: a flat fare of about €25 to the centre (plus €5 from the 4th passenger, max €30), taking 20–25 minutes door to door — convenient for groups or for flights arriving late at night.

From Genova Brignole Station (closest station to the venue)

  • On foot: about 15–20 minutes (roughly 1.2–1.5 km) through the Albaro area.
  • By bus: take line 15, 17, 18, 18/, 43 or 44 and get off at the "Albaro/Causa" stop, about 5–7 minutes' walk from Via Opera Pia 15.

From Genova Piazza Principe Station

  • Take the metro (Metropolitana di Genova) directly to Brignole station (same line, about 10–12 minutes), then follow the directions above (on foot or by bus 15/17/18/18/43/44 to "Albaro/Causa").
  • Alternatively, most regional trains that stop at Principe also call at Brignole a few minutes later — you can stay on board and continue to Brignole.
