6th CIM/CINet Reviewing Seminar
Reviewing scientific articles
Reviewing scientific articles is one of the most important activities for all scholars. You support your peers in developing better publications and, through that, help your scientific community make progress. You help yourself become a better author, by reviewing others’ papers and receiving reviews of your own work.
Reviewing is something that must and can be learned. The Creativity and Innovation Management Journal (CIM) and the Creativity and Innovation Management Network (CINet) have taken the initiative to develop a reviewing seminar to help young academics make the first step in their reviewing career.
Program
The seminar is organized as three online sessions, spread over several months. At the end of the first two sessions you are given an assignment, which you carry out before the next session:
Session 1: Kick-off, good reviewing practices
- Introduction by one of the CIM editors
- Good reviewing practices by three excellent reviewers:
- Fausto Di Vincenzo, University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy
- Luisa Pellegrini, University of Pisa, Italy
- Daniel Trabucchi, Politecnico di Milano, Italy
- Assignment for session 2: review one "old" submission from the faculty to CIM or another innovation management journal.
Session 2: Reviewing scientific papers
- Review presentations, feedback from the seminar faculty, discussions
- Assignment for session 3: the participants review each other’s papers. Each paper is reviewed by two participants and a member of the faculty
Session 3: Experiencing, and learning from, reviewing scientific papers
- Review of the reviews (Jennie Björk), additional feedback from the workshop faculty, discussions
- Wrap-up: summary of lessons learnt, further involvement with CIM
Date and place
The seminar takes place online. The first session is on 17 December 2026, from 09:00-12:00 CET. The second session follows in the Spring of 2027, the third later that year.
Faculty
CIM and CINet are very happy to have found a great faculty of excellent reviewers and journal editors, namely:
- Michela Beretta (Aarhus University, Denmark)
- Jennie Björk (KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden)
- Fausto Di Vincenzo (University of Chieti-Pescara, Italy)
- René Chester Goduscheit (Aarhus University, Denmark)
- Luisa Pellegrini (University of Pisa, Italy)
- Tim Schweisfurth (Technical University of Hamburg, Germany)
- Daniel Trabucchi (Politecnico di Milano, Italy)
- Melanie Wiener (Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria)
- Patricia Wolf (University of Southern Denmark, Denmark)
Participation
The seminar is open to young scholars (PhD students, postdocs, early career assistant professors) without any or much experience in reviewing scientific papers. Consistent with the focus of both CIM and CINet, their research and/or teaching should be strongly related to creativity and/or innovation management or related areas.
Recognition
All participants will receive a certificate of participation. PhD students who can use the seminar as part of their studies may apply for an additional certificate, issued by the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden, which has registered the seminar as an official PhD course, stating that the seminar covers a workload of 3 ECTS.
Application
Send your application by e-mail to Mrs. Jeannette-Visser-Groeneveld no later than 3 December 2026. The application should include your curriculum vitae, with details on your:
- Details on your areas of research and teaching
