We are deeply saddened by the passing of Harry Boer - an exceptional scholar, educator, and mentor.
Harry was Professor of Strategy and Organization at Aalborg University’s Center for Industrial Production until his retirement in 2024. He also served as Honorary Professor at Corvinus University of Budapest (from 2013) and Affiliated Professor at Aarhus University (from 2024). He held degrees in Applied Mathematics and Management Engineering from the University of Twente.
As a founding father of the Continuous Innovation Network (CINet), Harry’s vision and tireless dedication helped build a vibrant international research community. In 2022, he was awarded CINet’s Honorary Membership in recognition of his lifelong contributions.
Harry had a special gift for nurturing young talent. He guided generations of PhD students with wisdom, encouragement, and genuine care. In recognition of this unwavering support, CINet named its annual PhD Seminar in his honour - a tribute that continues to reflect his lasting impact on so many lives.
Beyond CINet, Harry played a key role in establishing the European Operations Management Association and served as a devoted editor of the Creativity and Innovation Management Journal. He also contributed to the editorial boards of the Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management and the International Journal of Operations & Production Management.
Harry’s legacy lives on in the people he inspired and the communities that he was part of and helped shape. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
